UKULELE IRELAND
Just to let anyone who plays or is interested in playing the UKULELE that there is now a national ukulele club that meets up every month for a general get together (playing, sharing and learning new tunes) .

There is quite an upsurge in the number of people (of all ages) taking up the ukulele worldwide for the past few years. Its due to many different factors but primary is the the fact that its relatively easy to learn to play and its size (a soprano "the normal" uke is usually about 20 inches in length) and portability.
But for all its small size the "UKE" is NOT an toy and if you care to check out the thousands of uke players on YOUTUBE you will quickly see that.
Many of the great names in Rock started off playing the ukulele and many still play it today. The late great George Harrison learned to play the uke and remained one of its biggest fans all his life. Check out the "concert for George" on Youtube.
The names are far too many to list here but include Eric Clapton, Elvis Costello, Pete Townshend, Eddie Vaer etc....

Here in Ireland Ukulele Ireland meets up on the second Saturday of each month in Dunlaoire Co. Dublin. Uke players coume from all over the country North and South and ALL levels of players are welcome.

I have noticed quite a lot of people who played guitar in their youth have taken up the uke and the whole group are really friendly and helpful with people who are just coming to it for the first time. We also run regular Ukulele workshps with experienced uke players for around the world.

So, why not think of giving yourself the present of a Uke for Christmas and come along and join us, you will be very welcome!

Hello!
My brother just got an electric uke for his 19th birthday and have completely fallen in love with it! Just wanted to ask if you know of any music shops in the Clare/Limerick/Galway region that you would reccommend buying one in.?
Thanks :D
